Carla Yamine studied Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Drama from the age of 3 at a suburban ballet school in Sydney, featuring in a great many performances in public arenas (including suburban shopping centres) from 1978-1990. After completing High School Carla assumed tertiary studies at the University of New South Wales (College of Fine Arts) where she completed a degree in Fine Arts specialising in Performance and Multimedia art forms (1995). During this time Carla exhibited work at the Sydney Opera House (Bennelong Theatre 1993) and for the Sydney Biennale (1995). Moving to Melbourne in 1997 Carla met like-minded artists, appearing in a plethora of theatrical productions and short films furthering her performance studies. Establishing performance duo ‘The Town Bikes’ with Gabrielle Barton in 2002, the pair were soon headhunted to feature in cult sensation ‘The Burlesque Hour’ (including several seasons in Australia and at Edinburgh festival). Appearing in International smash hit show ‘La Clique’ and performing alongside world class Australian and International acts, Carla has toured extensively in the USA, the UK and Europe. In 2010 Carla refreshed her training in Media Arts (video and installation) at RMIT University, and in Photography at the Centre for Contemporary Photography Melbourne continuing to hone her skills in each medium.  Now enjoying Motherhood, Carla creates imagery at every opportunity. She relishes existing inside (and out) of her personal works drawing upon the powers of child-like naivety, theatre, the B-grade and observation of the vernacular to produce both vivacious and deliciously mundane outcomes.
